Royal Icing
Finally, a royal icing recipe that is not intimidating! Easy and great to use.
Looks very professional. Both recipes from Better Homes and Gardens
| Ingredients | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Powdered Sugar | 4 cups |
| Meringue Powder | 3 tbsp |
| Cream of Tartar | 1/2 tsp |
| Water | 1/2 cup (Add 2 additional tbsp for thinner icing) |
| Vanilla | 1 tsp |
| Assorted colors of paste food coloring | Optional |
| Directions |
|---|
| In a large bowl, combine powdered sugar, meringue powder, and cream of tartar |
| Add the ½ cup of water and the vanilla. |
| Beat with electric mixer on low speed until combined, then on high speed for 7-10 minutes or until very stiff. |
| Add the 2-4 tablespoons water if desiring thinner icing. |
| *If decorating with more than one color, divide icing into individual bowls and tint with desired food coloring. |
| **Tip: I like to use 8 oz. squeeze bottles for each of my colors. I outline each cookie first, and then I go back in and fill it in with the icing. If using more than one color to decorate, wait until first color is completely dry. |
